Who knew? My husband and I hoped for it and dreamed of it, but in reality, never thought it would happen this soon. In spite of the 10-year age difference, our sons are best friends.
My husband and I were blessed to be able to adopt our son H at birth nearly a year and a half ago. We knew our older son would enjoy having a little brother and we knew that H would idolize The Boy. Still we worried about The Boy feeling left out or jealous. After all, he had been an only child for 10 years.
So now The Boy is 11 years old and H is 1 year old. Can you imagine? They play together every day. H lights up when his brother enters the room. During the week when I pick H up from daycare, all he wants to do is go see his big brother. As our car approaches The Boy’s after school center, H starts calling his name. When we arrive, The Boy immediately walks up to us and grabs H for a big hug. My heart melts.
At home, they play together on our swing set; build forts with boxes, and anything else you can imagine. They are truly best friends.
I don’t know why I’m so surprised. My sister (don’t tell anyone…but she’s 10 years younger than me) is my best friend!
Precious! I love watching my girls play together happily…the things they come up with are wild sometimes.
That is so wonderful! The Boy is a very special big brother…what a dear heart!
