The Boy is tasked with writing a report for his music class. The theme is 1970’s recording artists. Because he likes the songs in the title of this post and listens to them on his iPod, he selected The Partridge Family for his report.
I didn’t have the heart to tell him that The Partridge Family is a “fake” group. But he soon found out. Yesterday during music class, the teacher took the class to the technology lab so that they could do some research for their reports on the internet. The Boy’s spent the class period watching an episode of The Partridge Family TV show that he found on-line. Now, that’s my kind of research!
For the past 2 days I have not been able to get “I Think I Love You” out of my head. I seriously need to learn the rest of the words. Might be time to dust the cobwebs off my iPod and listen to The Partidge Family.
And here’s a bonus for all you former teenie boppers (But not me. I’m WAY too young to remember David Cassidy).

And for you young gals like me…here’s the teen idol from our hey-day, Shaun Cassidy. Da-Do-Ron-Ron.

Seriously, gals. . . Who was your teen idol?
Dare I admit it? Donny Osmond.
Then I discovered REAL rock ‘n’ roll and spent years worshiping at the altar of the likes of Roger Daltry, Jimmy Page, Carlos Santana, Elton John and David Gilmore.
All still pretty good 70s music, once I think about it. Okay – I’m starting up iTunes now.
In middle School it was Brett Michaels from Poison. He has a show now where all these women are after him like Bachelor. He dresses the same but is 100 yrs old. Yuck!
Jon Bon Jovi was another favorite!
Jan – Who didn’t love Donny Osmond?
Neighbor – I seem to remember you liking Kirk Cameron. And you had a picture of Michael Jackson on your bulletin board. LOL
I was going to put Kirk Cameron but wasn’t sure if you meant rock stars. He was a favorite! I had to get Teen Beat to get his pictures!! I liked Michael Jackson in 2nd grade. Does that count??
What about you and Barry Manilow (sp), Conway Twitty…..
Hmmm… Leonardo DiCaprio was all the rage, but I was always more of a Clooney girl…
I don’t remember having an idols as a teen. That’s pretty sad. LOL
I STILL love Donny Osmond. I know, I know.
Jon Knight and Jon Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi hit the big time when I was in 5th grade and of course New Kids in middle school. After that? I really couldn’t say I crushed on anyone famous until X Files and David Duchovny!
I’m with Midlife Slices…I really can’t remember a teen idol. Maybe New Kids on the Block but I tired of them quickly.
I meant to add…I liked the older guys, not necessarily the teens. Indiana Jones, Chicago Hope heartthrobs, etc.
SHAUN CASSIDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an older post of yours but I saw it and had to respond. OMG I am so going to date myself…
My teen idols were: David Cassidy, Donny Osmond and Bobby Sherman.
Sheesh. I’m old. LOL
[...] 26, 2009 by Nothing Fancy I told you here that The Boy was doing a report on The Partridge Family. Go check it out. I’ll wait. [...]
WOW the memories!!! I was 13 in the early 80’s and the music was the S*it lol!!! Had Rick plastered all over my bedroom walls hehe, along with Scott Baio, Ralph Machio, Shawn Cassiday, ect. Times were so much simpler, and more enjoyable imo. Today’s world is just too complicated w/ too much technology, and just too much crap shoved in our face!! Yeah I’m old school, I guess. Just my thoughts
.
