This post is brought to you by Spin Cycle and this week’s assignment – Time. See Sprite’s Keeper for more Spins on Time.
I have time for my friends.
- I have time to meet you for coffee or lunch or dinner or shopping or a movie.
- I have time to talk to you on the phone and to return your call when you leave me a message.
- I have time to stop by your house and visit for no reason other than to just spend time with you.
- I have time to listen to anything you want to talk about, especially when you think no one wants to listen – I do.
- I have time to send you an email just to say hello.
- I have time to reply to your emails.
- I have time to help you find a job, a babysitter, a preschool, a physician, a new outfit, or anything else you need.
- I have time to be your friend.
I have time for my family.
- I have time for a hug or a smile.
- I have time to help you with homework, school projects, and anything and everything with which you might need my help.
- I have time to go to your sporting events, school functions, and anything that means something to you.
- I have time to take care of you when you are not well.
- I have time to tell you that I love you.
- I have time to show you that I love you.
- I have time to listen as you talk about your day, your hopes, your worries, or your dreams.
- I have time to talk to you on the phone, to send you an email and to reply to your emails.
- I have time to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner with you; to watch The Wiggles for the 185th time with you; to listen to you tell a story over and over again; to be your sounding board; to help you make decisions; and just to be there for you when you need me.
- I have time to be your wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin…
My mother passed away almost 6 years ago. She was only 61 years old. She always had time for her family and friends and I’m quite certain that she is glad that she made time, rather than sweating the small stuff like many people do. I think about her often and about the fact that her life ended far too soon. I don’t want to be too busy for my family and friends. I want to be like her and be the best wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin and friend that I can be. I want to make time for the people I care about, because we can never be sure how much time we have.
Now, I LIKE this. We so often “don’t have time” for so many things. It’s simply lovely to see a list of the things we should always have time for.
That’s awesome! I love how you broke it all down into the really important things in life!
Beautiful. I wasn’t sure what I was hoping to see with this topic, but this is it. Perfectly done.
You’re linked!
So perfectly and beautifully said. You hit it on the head my friend. This is what life is all about!
Thanks for the reminder of what is important. I have been guilty of feeling not enough of me to go around. wonderful spin.
Beautiful spin. I always say the most important thing to do for your loved ones is to show up. Sounds like you do that in Spades.
So easy to do and so easy to forget. Thanks for the reminder on what is important.
That was wonderful! A great reminder for all of us to take a little time for those you love.
You’re nice like that!
This was an important post for me to read when my life has been spinning out of control at warp speed lately. Thank you for a lovely reminder to stop, breathe, and appreciate the things that are important!
Oh! I loved this! And I sooo agree with you. My grandmother, who passed away at age 96 last October, was like your mom. She always had time for her family and friends. Too bad not all of them always had time for her. I’ve always aspired to be like her, and I hope and pray that I am.
This is a FABULOUS reminder. I try to make sure my girlfriends aren’t pushed to the side- the last thing I want is to be that girl who disappears when she’s a couple!
You’re exactly right! Way to put it in perspective.
So true! So…what time are we meeting for lunch and where? You pick.
That was both beautiful and inspiring. I can see that I need to re-vamp my New Year’s resolutions. I got my priorities all mixed up.
I love this post… thanks for sharing. My father passed away 2 years ago at 67 – he was fit and in great shape, but had a major stroke. I try hard not to sweat the small stuff these days, and be there for my family and my friends.
Some background: I did a web search for “women over 40 blogs” and some blogs within WordPress came up, yours among them. Smart Mouth and Midlife Slices are already “friends” of mine, so I guess I wasn’t surprised to see they are on your blog roll too! Guess bloggy world is a small world.
And my impetus for searching for “women over 40 blogs”? It seems the bloggy world is overrun with moms and their tots. Nothing against the mommy blogs, but my son is 27 and married, and I just don’t relate to the tot thing anymore! I haven’t been blessed with any grandchildren yet, so perhaps I will feel differently about mommy blogs then??
I want to be just like that! Thanks for sharing this sweet spin.
Oh, I absolutely love it…great spin! Those are something that need to be posted on the fridge as a daily reminder…
what a sweet spin…
