Yesterday as H and I left his preschool, we walked out behind an older gentleman who was headed to his car.
H recognized the man and became very excited.
H: Mommy, that’s God!
Mommy: No, sweetie, I’m sorry, but that’s not God.
H: Mommy, I want to follow God’s car. I want to follow God home.
Mommy: Sweetie, I’m sorry, but that’s not God.
H: Yes, that’s God. I want to follow him. I love God.
Mommy: That’s really nice, H. But I don’t think that’s God.
H: Let’s follow God home.
H was so sure that the man was God. I stopped trying to convince him otherwise. When the man’s car turned in the opposite direction from us, I told H that we wouldn’t be able to follow him today. H was disappointed. So, I said “God is always with us in our hearts. It’s okay if we don’t follow him home today.”
He seemed satisfied with that answer.
Oh man, stuff like that gives me shivers.
He probably did see God in that man. I wish I could see the world through the eyes of a child again. What a lucky woman you are. HUGS
How sweet….I remember when Billy Bob was that age. Life was fun seeing things through the eyes of a young child. Enjoy…they grown up so fast!
Awwwww. What a sweet story. Thanks for sharing H with us.
Life through the eyes of a child…wow…that gave me the goose bumps!
How beautiful!
Maybe when you and Blue Eyes have talked about God with H this is the image of God he’s formed in his mind. Children have the best imaginations.
Or maybe the fellow’s name is Bob. God and Bob might sound similar to a child’s ears?
How precious is that! Then again what if it WAS God?? lol
Aww, how cute. I wonder what it was about this man that made him think this??!
